Redesigning a junction with real traffic data.
A 5 day study at Kaplakriki analysed 99,124 distinct vehicles and found 42% of traffic was through-traffic, giving planners the evidence to redesign a regional junction and cut congestion without new roadworks.

Planners working on Reykjanesbraut needed to know who actually used a key junction, local or regional drivers, before committing to a redesign. Counting by hand could not answer it.
Parka analysed 99,124 distinct vehicles in 5 days and found 42% of traffic was through-traffic, not local. The data identified traffic by postcode, vehicle type, vehicle class, and rental versus private, letting planners redesign the junction for the drivers who really used it.
