The challenge

Geysir draws huge year round tourist volumes onto sensitive land. The owners wanted to build infrastructure and protect the site, but needed to fund it without public money, and without alienating the tour operators who bring visitors every day.

The Parka solution

Parka introduced automated paid parking that funds the site entirely from visitor revenue. Owners and tour operators worked together through a multi year rollout, and roughly 1 million visitors a year now pay for parking, sustaining ongoing preservation work.

Paid parking funded the infrastructure, with no public money and the tour operators on side.
